Videos: Man From Texas In The Front Line Alongside Russian Soldiers – He’s A Far-Left Stalinist Communist Not A “Right-Wing GQP Trumper” As The Media Claims
A video of a Texas man embedded with Russian soldiers “at the front line” on the invasion of Ukraine is stirring anger online.
The video was taken and shared Monday, Feb. 28, by Russell Bonner Bentley, a former Texas resident who left for Europe and signed on with Russian forces in 2014 when the country annexed the Crimean Peninsula, media outlets reported.
Bentley, or “The Donbas Cowboy” as he’s often referred to himself, has been posting videos on his YouTube channel for years, speaking out in support of Russia from the ground in Ukraine.
He has continued to post messages supporting Russian troops ever since they invaded Ukraine on February 24, with his latest offering catching the attention of the Twittersphere and going viral.

Some media reported that the person was a GOP member and pro-Trump. He sure isn’t pro-Trump as he left the USA back n 2014 when Trump wasn’t that big in the political world.

Bentley immersed himself in Russian media sources that blamed the war on “U.S.-backed Nazis.” He imagined the struggle as something akin to the Spanish Civil War, which had been famously portrayed by writers such as Ernest Hemingway as a fight between democracy and fascism. He began fantasizing about banding together with like-minded freedom fighters against so-called “Ukrainian fascism,” and months later he started planning his journey to Donetsk.
After enlisting, he went through two weeks of rudimentary military training and then settled into a unit called Sut’ Vremeni, or “Essence of Time,” a Stalinist communist movement. When he was asked to select his nom de guerre, Bentley, a fourth-generation Texan, anointed himself “Texas,” pronounced in Russian like the Spanish “Tejas.”
