Even Leftist Hack CNN’s Dana Bash Shuts Down Jeffries’ Shutdown Whine—Caught Off Guard with Brutal Challenge (Video)
Even CNN couldn’t save Hakeem Jeffries this time. The Democrat House Minority Leader (D-NY), who’s been parroting the Biden-Schumer talking points about the so-called “Schumer Shutdown,” was caught completely off guard when CNN anchor Dana Bash refused to play along with his usual blame-the-Republicans routine.
The embarrassing moment happened Tuesday during an interview where Jeffries thought he’d get another friendly platform to spin his tired narrative. Instead, Bash actually did something rare for a CNN host — she pushed back. When Jeffries started whining that House Republicans weren’t willing to “have a conversation” to end the shutdown, Bash hit him with a brutal dose of reality.
“You’re right down the hall from Speaker Mike Johnson’s office,” Bash said. “You could probably take a few steps, knock on the door, and talk to him. Have you tried that?”

Jeffries froze. Instead of answering like a leader ready to take action, he stumbled through excuses, claiming Speaker Johnson hadn’t been given “permission” from President Trump to meet with him or Chuck Schumer. You could practically see the gears grinding in Jeffries’ head as he realized he’d just admitted his entire strategy depends on deflecting, not solving problems.
Bash pressed again, and Jeffries doubled down — saying even if he could talk to Johnson, it wouldn’t be “productive.” Translation: Democrats don’t actually want to fix the shutdown. They want to milk it for political gain and blame Trump, as usual.
What makes this even more ironic is that the so-called “Schumer Shutdown” was caused by Democrats refusing to back GOP efforts to fund the government — because those bills didn’t include more taxpayer money for illegal immigrants, transgender surgeries for minors, and other far-left pet projects.
So when even CNN’s Dana Bash won’t buy what you’re selling, you know the spin has collapsed. Once again, President Trump and America First Republicans stand ready to govern, while the Democrats keep whining and playing victim.
