In the weeks since the police murder of George Floyd, school districts across the country have cut ties with police departments. The shift has the potential to reverse a trend that’s lasted more than two decades, as law enforcement has become increasingly intertwined with education.
Many school shootings could have been avoided if there were armed officers in those schools!
A video that is slowly becoming viral shows why armed highly trained police officers can save lives in active shooting situations. The video shows a police officer as he calmly parked, put down his coffee, grabbed his rifle, sighted in with his red dot, used the cruiser to brace himself, then downed an active shooter at 183 yards!

More from KIRO 7:
The Pierce County Force Investigation Team released the video as part of its ongoing investigation into the shooting. Investigators concluded Collins fired off 15 rounds, while Tacoma police officers returned nine rounds, all of them over a 16-minute period.
The last shot came from a TPD officer, identified as Christopher Munn, who fired his weapon 183 yards away.
“Okay, he reloaded,” an officer shouts. “Are those shots coming from the outside?”
Then one shot. “Shots fired! Suspect’s down,” Munn says.
When officers made their way over to Collins, they confirmed he was no longer a threat, with his weapons laying nearby.
More police presence and ice-cold cops like the officer from the video above could prevent more school shootings for sure!
In the mid-1970s, police officers were in only about 1 percent of US schools. That changed in the late 1990s, as school shooting incidents brought a wave of concern about safety. Today, 60 percent of schools have a police presence but that trend is in a downfall.
