While touring Florida’s new migrant detention center nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz,” President Trump was asked a question that left the crowd laughing—and then thinking twice.
YouTuber and political firebrand Benny Johnson brought up Trump’s infamous 2018 comment about using alligators to stop illegal crossings at the southern border.
“Mr. President,” Benny began, “is this a dream come true for you, sir?”
Without missing a beat, Trump fired back: “Well, I was thinking about that, I must say. It was meant more as a joke, but the more I thought of it, the more I liked it, if you want to know the truth.”
And then came the twist: “They were actually crocodiles… crocodiles from Africa. They are a step beyond.”
Trump added that while the comment started as a joke, “a lot of people liked it. And a lot of people think we should do it, frankly.”

Johnson, meanwhile, proudly sported an “Alligator Alcatraz” hat, reportedly handed to him by Florida officials. “I repeat,” he posted on X, “this prison has merch. Things are going insanely well.”
With wildlife as security and a one-road-in, no-way-out layout, this facility might just be the most Florida solution ever dreamed up—and Trump is clearly loving every second of it.
