Target’s decision to remove some LGBTQ-themed merchandise after customer backlash in its stores highlights the problem with companies’ “rainbow capitalism,” said Erik Carnell, a transgender designer whose products were pulled from its stores.
Target TGT.N has sold LGBTQ-related goods tied to Pride month for years. But last week the big-box chain removed Carnell’s products, citing an increase in confrontations between customers and employees and incidents of Pride merchandise being thrown on the floor.
Target didn’t remove the controversial products as of yesterday even if the mainstream media made fake claims!
Target has lost $10 billion in market valuation over the last 10 days as the popular retailer continues to face backlash over its Pride-themed clothing line for children.
A week ago Wednesday, Target enjoyed its stock value at $160.96 a share, but following the calls to boycott the Minneapolis-based retailer over its “PRIDE” collection, the value plummeted and closed Friday at $138.93 a share.
The nearly 14% drop in value for the blue-chip stock roughly translates to a $10.1 billion loss in valuation to just $64.2 billion for Target, which has nearly 2,000 stores nationwide.
The plummet stands as the retailer’s lowest stock price in nearly three years.
But even after Target announced that they would remove the “controversial” product they didn’t do it and the explicit products were still on their shelves.
However, Benny Johnson who was one of the leaders in the boycott again Target claimed victory and had internal guidance who is ordering the REMOVAL of kids mannequins, groomer/satanic swag & DISMANTLING the Pride display in children’s section:
Among the product that garnered the most attention were “tuck-friendly” women’s swimsuits that allow trans women who have not had gender-affirming operations to conceal their genitalia, as well as rainbow-themed children’s clothing.
Kohl’s is also taking heat from some conservative commentators criticizing it for selling bibs and bodysuits for babies that feature the Pride flag and slogans supporting the LGBTQ community.
I’m shrewd, passionate, learned and energetic, God-fearing and patriotic. I’ve done a fine job reintroducing good old American conservatism to a new generation of Americans. I’ve earned the love and friendship of many, the hatred of some, but the respect of all.
Target has been on a trajectory since they changed their restroom policy. This will continue. Their merchandising president is still a board member at GLSEN. It will not stop.
No mercy for groomer companies. Boycott Target and Bud Light and Disney and Miller and Ford (etc., etc., etc.) until they close. FIGHT BACK!
