New York Mayor Blasio Vows To Ignore Immigration Laws

We finally have a president that does something for Americans that truly matters but there will always be that “someone” who will make sure things won’t go as smooth as they are planned!

In this case that someone is New York’s first Democratic mayor Bill de Blasio.

In an interview given this month for RTVi, or Russian Television International de Blasio said:

“The NYPD will not participate as immigration enforcement agents because we have, for decades, built a close working relationship with immigrant communities, folks who are documented and folks who are undocumented.”

“Our police force is not going to be out there knocking on people’s door and it is not going to share information about people’s documentation status with the federal authorities.”

“We’ve been very clear that we do not ask people documentation status nor have we for decades. That’s been true of Democrats, Republicans as mayors. Even Rudy Giuliani agreed that this was the smart policy in terms of public safety here in New York City. So the NYPD will not be asking people about their documentation status.”

Asked a question “how far will they go in their fight with the federal government since they’ve declared New York City a sanctuary city, and therefore risking to lose the federal funding, Mayor de Blasio said:

“We do not believe the President’s executive order related to immigration is legally clear or consistent. We think it can be challenged effectively in court. We think it can be challenged effectively in court. If you look at it carefully, the only resources that could be held back, even if it were to pass judicial muster, the only resources that could held back would be from the NYPD, especially for anti-terrorism.”

During the interview, de Blasio also tried to blame a recent spike in anti-Semitic vandalism on Trump and his advisors.  He said “(Trump) unleashed these forces and some of the people who are closest to these white supremacist movement, and they are very intolerant of any religion that is not Christian.” 

“Steve Bannon is an example of a leader of the right-wing that has fostered and supported these kind of movements and certainly given them access to his media platform. If the President wants to draw a clear line, he needs to make explicitly clear that he will not tolerate anti-Semitism, racism, Islamophobia, anti-gay activities. I think it’s necessary to separate from the people who, unfortunately, like Steve Bannon, have aided and abetted those kinds of negative movements and to constantly make clear that he doesn’t want the support of any people like that and he will condemn them.”

The question is- where are New Yorkers now? Are they willing to allow their Mayor to abandon their safety and security like this? With this, New York Mayor is actually saying that it is OK to ignore Federal Law and not be prosecuted. Do this means we can now ignore paying taxes, rob banks, and do any thing we feel like doing and not be prosecuted?

It’s obvious that de Blasio cares nothing for the citizens of NYC. Let’s just hope this change before there are victims because of his choice!
