‘Last Man Standing’ Might Be Saved By Another Network

I am sure you all have watched one of the best show on TV “Last Man Standing.” Sadly after six seasons, ABC Network confirmed that they are canceling Tim Allen-starring sitcom.

Apparently, it is ok for SNL to trash our president week after week, but when Tim Allen expresses his brand of conservatism, his show gets canceled. I guess that is more of that good old fashioned Love Trumping Hate from the Left.

The show was one of the few broadcast network sitcoms to appeal to conservative, blue-collar America, a true oddity since Allen has noted in interviews that the program was written by liberal writers.

Well, after tons of petitions showcasing massive support for the show, the folks behind it have some good news for viewers.

20th Century Fox Television creates the show (which is sold to ABC) and producers Jonnie Davis and Howard Kurtzman are actively seeking a new home for Allen and co. Speaking to Variety, Kurtzman told us that finding a place for Season 7 is their top priority:

“We’re starting to explore that. If it’s not going to go forward at ABC, of course Jonnie and I are hopeful that we can find another home for it.”

With Fox having ditched its multi-camera shows in favor of single-camera comedies like Brooklyn Nine Nine, it is unlikely that Last Man Standing can settle in there, so where are the other options? There is an ever-growing petition to save the Baxters, and we have already seen shows like Community saved by online streaming services. Then again, extremely popular shows like Hannibal have fallen by the wayside despite public outcry and support.

It seems that the cancellation is still sinking in, and certainly came as a shock to all involved. Allen seemed pretty sure it would be lucky number seven for the show, while David and Kurtzman told Variety that they were left gobsmacked by the news:

“That’s the one that’s really an open sore right now,We really were expecting a pickup. The fact that we didn’t get a pickup was a surprise and a disappointment. I think no one was more disappointed than Tim Allen, such a huge star with such a huge following.”

Fox will have to act fast to put the wheels back on the wagon here.

I hope Fox does pick it up and puts it in the same time slot that ABC had it, just to beat the replacement show.

In hindsight, I think ABC realizes their mistake. Last Man Standing is a comedy show, if SNL can sling insults, write songs post election, etc, Tim Allen should be able to keep his show going. WHO made this insane decision? They should be history.
Can’t wait to see what network picks up Last Man. ABC really shot themselves in the foot by this idiotic decision.

Disney has turned a deep corner with its operations of ABC. I would love to see season 7 come out as a boxed DVD without the broadcast affiliation. They all need a dose of Flo, with her legendary ” Kiss my Grits!”
