Katie Rich, SNL Writer Who Tweet-Bullied Barron Trump, Might Lose Her Job

Twitter can be hazardous to your career. Just ask Katie Rich.

The Saturday Night Live writer has been suspended indefinitely from the show following a questionable tweet about President Donald Trump’s son Barron, according to our sister site Deadline. NBC and the show have yet to officially comment on the matter, but Deadline notes that Rich’s name did not appear in the credits for this week’s episode.

A “Saturday Night Live” writer was blasted on social media for tweeting that President Trump’s youngest son would become a school shooter.

In a now deleted tweet, Katie Rich said Friday that 10-year-old Barron Trump “will be this country’s first homeschool shooter.”( luckily for you we’ve made a screen shot of the tweet you can view the tweet bellow)

The message was left up for about three hours before Rich deleted it  The joke was one of the thousands made by users all across the country that day, but it gained way more attention than most, with many people demanding the comedy writer be blocked by Twitter or even fired by NBC.

It should go without saying that had a conservative in the media or entertainment business said such things about Obama’s daughters, that person would have lost his or her job and faced serious consequences.

Generally, presidential offspring are deemed off limits — but loudmouthed Trump critics are rewriting the rules of common decency in their attempt to insult the new administration.

If anyone had such a thing while Barack Obama was in the White House, that person would immediately be deemed dangerous and a traitor. Again, there would be consequences and perhaps even an investigation from the Secret Service. (Tweets below)

Making an argument against Donald Trump and his policies is one thing. Bullying a 10-year-old boy and joking about political assassination and domestic terrorism are entirely different and shameful acts — and should be recognized as such!

It now seems that this has come back to haunt her because HeatStreet reported:

Speculation that the writer has been fired from Saturday Night Live gained traction after this weekend’s show with Aziz Ansari didn’t include her name in the credits. NBC declined to comment on the situation, according to Fox. The official page of Saturday Night Live still lists Rich as a writer for the show.

An NBC source familiar with the situation, however, told Heat Street that Katie Rich was immediately suspended from her position and that the suspension is indefinite.

NBC insiders said this is tantamount a firing, though it’s remotely possible Rich could be reinstated once the uproar subsides.

Rich issued an apology an hour ago, saying: “I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet. I deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I’m so sorry.”

In addition to this, she deactivated her twitter account! As Twitchy reported, people lost their minds over this tweet and spoke out against Katie herself and Saturday Night Live. At first, Katie just deleted the tweet (which is why we have the screencap), then she locked her account, and then ultimately she deactivated.

I feel bad for Barron, she should lose her privilege to write for SNL. Grow up. If this was your child you would not say such stupid shit. Comedy is one thing, but not your twitter comment. Geesh . . . glad you are not my kid.
