Mamdani, 33, climbed under the bench press bar loaded with a modest 135 pounds—a weight most high school athletes can rep with ease. What followed was pure comedy. The would-be mayor couldn’t even get the bar off the rack without help. With a crowd watching, he strained and shook as a spotter all but carried the load for him through two embarrassing “reps.”

Mayor Eric Adams seized the opportunity to remind voters what strength actually looks like, posting his own video at the same event. Adams, 64, powered through multiple reps with the same bar, barely needing the spotter’s touch. He mocked Mamdani directly on X, writing:

“64 vs 33. A lifetime of hard work vs. a silver spoon. The results speak for themselves.”

Not to be left out, former Governor Andrew Cuomo piled on, writing:

“It’s easy to talk, it’s hard to carry the burden.”

Cuomo didn’t provide a video of his own “strength,” but the shot at Mamdani was enough.

The symbolism wasn’t lost on anyone. If Mamdani can’t even shoulder 135 pounds in the gym, how can he carry the weight of running the most important city in America? New Yorkers already live under crushing taxes, failing schools, and exploding crime—Mamdani just proved he’s only prepared to add to the load, not lift it.
