BREAKING: Chicago Lifeguard Opens Fire on Black Teens—One Dead, One Hurt—He Says He Was Licensed and Feared for His Life (VIDEO)
Another tragedy is unfolding in Democrat-run Chicago—and it’s already being turned into a racial and political circus.
Charles Leto, a 55-year-old lifeguard for the Chicago Park District, is now facing first-degree murder charges after opening fire on two Black teenagers near the Douglass Park pool Thursday night. One teen is dead. The other is fighting for his life.
Leto told police he acted in self-defense. According to early reports, he had a concealed carry license and claimed the teens attacked him and tried to steal his bike. That alone should matter—but in Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago, justice isn’t about facts. It’s about appeasing outrage mobs.
The short video that the police obtained doesn’t help LEot either:
Video:
The deceased, 15-year-old Marjay Dotson, was reportedly shot in the back. His 14-year-old friend, Jeremy Herred—who remains in the ICU—was shot in the neck. Both teens were unarmed. Their families say there was “no provocation,” and their high-powered lawyer, Jeff Neslund, is already demanding hate crime charges.

Attorney Jeff Neslund: "No justification to shoot a child in the back anywhere. Let alone a public pool or park."
Rev. Marvin Hunter: "I need justice to be swift, I need it to be exact, I need it to be strong in this matter." pic.twitter.com/YqIQHVP6xc

Yes—hate crime charges… against a man who allegedly feared for his life and claims he was attacked.
The left-wing media immediately jumped to inflame racial tensions. Headlines focused on Herred’s family connection to Laquan McDonald—the teen whose death sparked BLM riots years ago. Now, they’re back in front of cameras, demanding not just justice, but revenge.
What we don’t hear much about? Why Chicago Park District employees are working in high-crime zones without police protection. Why violent teens roam the parks unchecked after hours. Why any law-abiding citizen would feel the need to carry in the first place.
Let’s not forget: This is a city where criminals run the streets and law-abiding gun owners are treated like criminals. If Leto was truly defending himself, this case deserves a serious look—not just a knee-jerk political lynching.
But in soft-on-crime, Soros-style Chicago, that may be too much to ask.
