Video: Irish Accent Kamala Harris Unlocked, Or Is It Jamaican?—You Can’t Make This Up

It’s hard to tell what Kamala Harris was going for, but her attempt at an accent—Irish? Jamaican?—during her interview with Stephen Colbert left people scratching their heads. Who gave her the green light to try this?

On Tuesday night, Harris sat down for a friendly chat on The Late Show, and things went exactly as you might expect. When Colbert pointed out that polls show voters want “change” in 2024, Harris had the perfect opportunity to highlight what her presidency would look like. Instead, she gave us a confusing jumble of responses.

“You are a member of the present administration, but under a Harris administration, what would the major changes be, and what would stay the same?” Colbert asked.

“Well, I’m obviously not Joe Biden,” Harris responded, sparking laughter from the audience. Colbert quipped, “I’ve noticed.”

But then Harris went off on a bizarre tangent, talking about the “aspirations” and “incredible work ethic” of the American people, along with her “opportunity economy” pitch. The whole thing fell flat.

But it didn’t stop there. After being similarly asked on The View if she would do anything differently from Biden, she answered, “There is not a thing that comes to mind.”

And then, just when you thought she couldn’t dig the hole any deeper, she pulled out her mystery accent—was it supposed to be Irish or Jamaican? The result was cringe-worthy, and critics have been having a field day, predicting it’ll be perfect fodder for a Trump campaign ad.

Watch the video below, but brace yourself!
