Mike Pence told reporters on Capitol Hill Wednesday afternoon that Trump is going to be getting Washington in marching orders again. Trump will now initiate orders to “repeal and replace Obamacare.”
Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence spoke here along with his running mate Donald Trump to explain their plan for repealing and replacing ObamaCare.
With the Senate already having launched the process of repealing Obamacare when, as reported yesterday, Senate Budget Committee Chairman Mike Enzi released a 2017 budget resolution setting up the process to partially repeal Obamacare early in Donald Trump’s administration, on Wednesday vice president-elect Mike Pence met with Republican congressional leaders to plot the strategy of how to repeal Obama’s signature healthcare law.
Speaking to House republicans, Pence said Trump plans to take executive actions to start unwinding ObamaCare on day one: “Our first order of business will be to repeal and replace ObamaCare,” Pence told reporters, adding the process would begin “day one.”
And Donald Trump laid out his Contract with the American Voter short time ago. Working with Congress, we are going to get this economy growing again and create 25 million new jobs by reducing and simplifying our tax system, reforming our trade policies and reducing the regulatory burden. We are going to end the war on American energy, and we are going to invest in our nation’s infrastructure. We are going to bring choice to our education system so that every child in America receives a great education.
We will secure our border and end illegal immigration. We will rebuild our military and take care of our veterans, and we will bring law and order back to our communities struggling with crime, drugs and violence.
Then he said these 8 words that will have every politician shaking in their boots:
“WE’RE GOING TO BE IN THE PROMISE-KEEPING BUSINESS,” PENCE STATED.
“The president-elect campaigned all across this country. He gave voice to the frustrations and aspirations of the American people. he laid out an agenda to make America great again, and my message on his behalf today before this Congress and this Senate is that we intend to keep those promises.”
“It will literally begin on day one,” he continued. “Before the end of the day, we do anticipate that the president-elect will be in the Oval Office, taking action to both repeal executive orders and also set into motion through executive action policies to implement promises that were made on the campaign trail.”
In addition to getting rid of Obamacare, Pence will also “roll back the onerous regulations that have been stifling” economic growth.
He will initiate “tax reform for businesses and individuals.” Pence also promises to end illegal immigration and “rebuilding our military.”
Pence then said:
“The American people had a choice,” the former Indiana Governor stated. “Our president-elect took his case to the American people to repeal and replace Obamacare, and the American people voted decisively for a better future for health care in this country.”
