Congress To Repeal Michelle’s School Lunch Plan As Soon As Possible

Despite the fact that it has been a massive failure, Michelle Obama is still incredibly proud of her school lunch plan, as she sees it as her biggest accomplishment as the first lady. That’s why it came as devastating news to the first lady this week when Congress revealed that it will likely be repealing the school lunch plan when they reconvene.

Conservative Tribune reported that the House Freedom Caucus, a powerful group of Republican lawmakers in the lower chamber, is pushing for Congress to repeal Michelle’s school lunch plan as soon as possible.

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., posted a document to his website calling for the repeal of certain parts of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act Of 2010, which is the legislation that helped bring about the school lunch plan.

This is all part of a larger initiative called “First 100 Days: Rules, Regulations, and Executive Orders to Examine, Revoke and Issue.”

“The largest of the five school- and center-based programs, the National School Lunch Program, fed about 30 million children each school day in 2014 and cost $12.7 billion,” the report read. “The rules are hallmarks of the Obama administration, but kids aren’t eating the foods, industries can’t comply with the standards, and schools are wasting money.”

According to EAGnews, over 1.2 million students have stopped eating lunch at school altogether ever since restrictions were placed on fat, calories, sodium, sugar and other nutritional parameters in 2012.

A massive food waste has also been created thanks to the bill’s demand that every student takes a fruit or a vegetable whether they eat it or not.
