Louisiana Pastor Delivers Poetic Justice to Man Who Threatened to R*pe and Kill His Wife and Grandchildren — Caught on Camera

A Louisiana pastor took matters into his own hands after a neighbor allegedly threatened to rape his wife and grandchildren and kill them the next time he left town. The confrontation was caught on camera, and Pastor Tony Spell of Life Tabernacle Church says he was simply protecting his family.

Spell was working on a church bus when the neighbor’s son, a member of the Sherwin family across the street, started yelling threats. According to Spell, the man said he was going to rape Spell’s wife and all his grandchildren, then added that the next time Spell went out of town he would kill them and asked what Spell was going to do about it.

In the video, the younger man appears to throw the first punch, though Spell was walking toward him quickly at the time. The situation escalated into a physical fight. Spell has said it is his duty as a husband, father, and grandfather — and as the natural protector of his church — to stand up when his family is threatened in that way.

Members of Spell’s church have backed him publicly. They say the Sherwin family has been a problem for a long time and that they have filed multiple complaints with police about them. Spell’s attorney has pointed out that the Sherwins have a large industrial-style camera that can see across the street and even into the church pulpit. He also claimed that local police have been friendly with the Sherwins and helped surveil Spell during the COVID period when the pastor refused to shut down services.

Spell was previously hit with misdemeanor summonses in 2020 for continuing to hold church services during the lockdowns. He was arrested and booked on second-degree battery charges following this latest incident.

The Sherwin family has denied Spell’s account of the threats. However, the video of the confrontation and the statements from church members paint a picture of ongoing tension between the two sides.

When someone openly threatens to rape and murder your family, most people understand the instinct to respond. Spell has said he was simply doing what any man in his position should do — protect those he loves. The fact that it was caught on camera has turned the story into a flashpoint, with many viewing it as a case of a pastor standing up to real threats rather than backing down.

Cases like this always raise questions about self-defense, the role of local police in neighborhood disputes, and how far someone can go when protecting their own. Spell’s supporters argue he was justified. The legal system will ultimately decide the outcome of the battery charges.

For now, the video has spread widely because it shows a man responding directly to what he says were horrific threats against his family. In a time when many feel the system moves too slowly or favors the wrong side, stories like this resonate with people who believe in standing up for what’s theirs.
