TPS for Somalis expires March 2026 anyway, she noted, with a 60-day grace period. “If you are confused, if you feel threatened, know that the law is on your side.”

The order, signed November 24, 2025, directs Secretaries Rubio and Bessent to designate Muslim Brotherhood chapters—like those in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt—as terrorist organizations under INA and IEEPA. Trump’s text spells it out: the Brotherhood’s network supports violence, from Hamas rocket attacks post-October 7 to Jordanian leaders aiding militants. “Relevant here, its chapters in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt engage in or facilitate and support violence and destabilization campaigns that harm their own regions, United States citizens, and United States interests.” It’s a policy to cut resources to these groups, not just Somalis—though Omar frames it as targeted hate.
Her sudden “law on your side” pivot is telling. This is the same Omar who rails against America as racist and sexist, who’s been tied to fraud scandals funneling Minnesota welfare to Al-Shabaab terrorists.
