Video: Rand Paul’s Perfect Response to Joe Scarborough’s ‘Scam’ Criticism of DOGE—Absolute Chef’s Kiss
The announcement of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Donald Trump’s administration has sent waves across Washington, with conservatives praising the initiative and Democrats scrambling to discredit it. With Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy at the helm, the goal of DOGE is clear: dismantle bloated bureaucracy, slash wasteful spending, and bring accountability back to federal agencies. Naturally, this triggered MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, who called DOGE a “scam” and insinuated it would target Social Security and Medicare.
Enter Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), the quintessential government-waste watchdog, who wasn’t having it. During a Thursday appearance on Fox News, Paul was shown a clip of Scarborough’s rant. His response was as sharp as it was hilarious:
“Oh, poor Joe Scarborough. I remember when he was a conservative. You know, when he was a conservative Republican [Congressman], he actually voted against expanding Medicare into Medicare Part D… because he thought it might bankrupt the country.
So there was a time when he was a thoughtful person, but no longer. Now, there is a sliver of truth—yes, entitlements are a lot of the spending. But to say, ‘therefore, we’re not going to look at waste’ is the excuse we hear all the time.
Why don’t we start by getting rid of the three-quarters of a million dollars spent feeding cocaine to Japanese quail to see if they were more sexually promiscuous on cocaine? Maybe Joe would agree with at least that.”

Paul’s quip about “cocaine-fueled quail” perfectly highlighted the absurd waste that DOGE aims to eliminate. Meanwhile, Scarborough further proved his disconnect from everyday Americans when he expressed shock over $7 butter prices—a reality millions face daily.
In the battle between Rand Paul’s common sense and Joe Scarborough’s Beltway elitism, it’s no contest. Watch the clip and decide for yourself!

I’m shrewd, passionate, learned and energetic, God-fearing and patriotic. I’ve done a fine job reintroducing good old American conservatism to a new generation of Americans. I’ve earned the love and friendship of many, the hatred of some, but the respect of all.
Joe was a key note speaker at the annual council dinner for the John Birch Society back in about 1995.
As far as the defense department spending, how about cutting their budget by the amount of money they cannot account for? If they have no idea where the money went, they don’t need it.
