New York Mayor Bill de Blasio gave remarks following the incident in Chelsea saying there was currently no indication that terrorism was linked to the explosion in the neighborhood. He added “that none of those injured are likely to die.”

“We also want to be upfront saying that there is no evidence at this point of a terror connection to this incident. This is preliminary information. It’s something we will be investigating very carefully but there is no evidence at this point of a terror connection,” de Blasio said.

He continued, “I want to say more broadly, there is no specific and credible threat against New York City at this point in time from any terror organization. So as we are analyzing what happened here, we are doing against the backdrop but we have no credible and specific threat at this moment.”

“But we do want to be very clear, the early indications – the initial indications is this was an intentional act. We are going to have a lot more to say in the coming hours as we have more – a detailed analysis – but we believe at this point in time this was an intentional act,” he said.
Residents who live in the areas where the NYPD closed off to the public can neither leave their buildings nor get access to their residences if they were not inside when the incidences happened Saturday night. Hotel guests in the neighborhood found themselves in the same circumstance and trying to look for other places to stay in the city.

“All the activity is right in front of my house. This is the longest dog walk in history. My wife and daughter are inside the house. They won’t let me in and they won’t let them out. My daughter is very upset. She’s 15. She’s freaked out,” neighborhood resident Dan Siegler told The Daily Caller.

The explosion in Chelsea has not been linked to the pipe bomb explosion that happened earlier in the day at a Marine 5K run at the Jersey Shore.
