NHL Comes To Ivan Provorov’s Defense After He Refuses To Wear “Pride” Outfit – He Got Even Better News This Morning

Flyers coach John Tortorella on Thursday reiterated his support of defenseman Ivan Provorov’s decision to not wear a Pride Night jersey during warmups Tuesday night, skipping warmups altogether.

Provorov, 26, cited his Russian Orthodox beliefs in explaining why he did not partake.

“As I said, Provy did nothing wrong,” Tortorella said Thursday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Just because you don’t agree with his decision doesn’t mean he did anything wrong.”

Provorov played 22:45 in the Flyers’ win over the Ducks. Philadelphia selected him No. 7 overall in the 2015 draft, and he’s in his seventh NHL season.

Tortorella said he and Provorov discussed the defenseman’s decision beforehand.

NHL also decided to defend the player himself!

NHL statement:

“Hockey is for Everyone is the umbrella initiative under which the League encourages Clubs to celebrate the diversity that exists in their respective markets, and to work to achieve more welcoming and inclusive environments for all fans,” the NHL said in its statement to ESPN. “Clubs decide whom to celebrate, when and how — with League counsel and support. Players are free to decide which initiatives to support, and we continue to encourage their voices and perspectives on social and cultural issues.”

This boy is on a winning roll.

Even more good news arrived this morning because Ivan Provorov’s jersey is now completely sold out on NHL Shop and Fanatics with the exception of extra smalls.

After Tuesday’s game, Provorov said, “I respect everybody. I respect everybody’s choices. My choice is to stay true to myself and my religion.”

This seems to make him a hero but the mainstream media decided to only write negative columns and stories but failed to cover this huge news which shows that we can still respect everyone without bowing down to the woke agenda.
