Franklin Graham will help lead prayers at Trump’s inauguration on January 20th. He is going to be one of six faith leaders that will participate in the event.
This is a massive change of pace. Franklin Graham has previously called Islam ‘evil’ and ‘wicked’ in the past. He has not backed down from this position.
Speaking recently Graham said,
God showed up through the will of the American people and Trump was easily elected.
“Since the first inaugural ceremony, our leaders have paid tribute to the blessings of liberty that have been bestowed upon our country and its people,” Tom Barrack, the chairman of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, said in a statement. “I am pleased to announce that a diverse set of faith leaders will offer readings and prayers at the swearing-in of President-elect Trump and honor the vital role religious faith plays in our multicultural, vibrant nation.”
Graham himself is the president of the massive charitable organization Samaritan’s Purse, which seeks to “meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ,” as per the nonprofit’s mission statement.
The Radio City Rockettes and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will be performing at the event. Jackie Evancho will also be singing.
Here is what Franklin Graham told Lou Dobbs before the election via Fox News:
