SAN JOSE, Calif. — Donald Trump supporters were mobbed and assaulted by protesters on Thursday night after the candidate’s campaign rally in California.Chaos erupted outside a Donald Trump rally in San Jose, California on Thursday, as a crowd of protesters violently attacked supporters of the presumptive GOP nominee as they left the event. Some of the protesters were seen waving Mexican flags and burning the real estate magnate’s trademark “Make America Great Again” hat.
One man was punched to the ground; another was bloodied; and a woman was pelted with eggs and bottles.

At one point, a protester hurled a heavy bag at a supporters’ head, leaving him with blood trailing down his face and onto his shirt. The incident was recorded on video:
Anti-Trump protesters has been tap taped as they destroyed an American flag.
The Los Angeles Times reports at least a dozen people, including one police officer,were attacked at the scene. Several people were taken into custody, but police declined to say how many were arrested. It’s unclear who exactly was responsible for the violence. The ugly scene comes just days before the California primaries on Thursday.
Lan Hoang said anti-Trump protesters stole his “Make America Great Again” hat off of his head and set it on fire as he was leaving the rally.
The 24-year-old said he saw “a lot” of Trump supporters get attacked on the walk back to his car after the rally.
Protesters also smashed cars in a nearby parking structure and surrounded and taunted an elderly couple, according to Steve Tong.
“It was unbelievable,” he told NBC Bay Area. “I’ve never seen anything like that in America before,”
Police held back at first but eventually moved in. San Jose Police Sgt. Enrique Garcia told NBC News that several protesters were arrested and one officer was assaulted in the melee.
It wasn’t the first Trump rally in California to turn violent. About 20 people were arrested after an April speech by Trump in Costa Mesa south of Los Angeles, when members of the crowd damaged five police vehicles.
