This weekend, the New England Patriots will challenge the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51. But, barring a disastrous performance or poorly-conceived political statement, Lady Gaga already has won.
In a teaser for her halftime show, Gaga shared that she’s “been planning this since I was 4.” And between performing for one of TV’s largest audiences of the year — last year’s show drew 111.9 million viewers — and starring in Tiffany’s first Super Bowl ad, the singer is eyeing an impressive payday, especially if she launches a tour after her halftime show, as predicted. But some bad news just arrived about her half-time performance that we can’t confirm for sure!
According to an unnamed source, in no way affiliated with the singer, Ms. Gaga will be using the worlds largest stage to discuss “a sickness inside us,” referring to the polarizing rhetoric that has brought Donald Trump to power, and to speak out regarding “overwhelming support for the Muslim community.
The source, who refers Lady Gaga’s music as “the cure” has asked followers to tweet #takethecure to end racism and bigotry.
The only statements that I’ll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I have been consistently making throughout my career,” Gaga said during a press conference in Huston on Thursday. “I believe in a passion for inclusion. I believe in the spirit of equality and the spirit of this country as one of love and compassion and kindness. My performance will uphold those philosophies.”
“I’m going to be taking the spirit of many performers with me on that stage when I go up there,” Gaga continue.
“I’ve been planning this since I was 4, so I know exactly what I’m going to do,” Gaga said. “For me, it’s all about giving to the fans and bringing people together that wouldn’t normally come together.”
“The thing is, is it’s such a big world stage in terms of how many people see it and it’s been done so many times,” Gaga said. “I think the challenge is to look at it and say, ‘What can I do differently, how can I elevate certain little things here and there and also make it about the music?’”
Gaga neither confirmed nor denied the report during her pre-show press conference held on Feb. 2.
Recent halftime performances have also been used to showcase social and political issues. Last year, Beyonce used her time to pay homage to the black power movement resulting in controversy and protests.
So according to Houston Reporter Lady Gaga will try and defy Donald Trump again! What are your thoughts on this? We are not sure if she would have the chance to do it anyway! A source close to the halftime show tells ET, “Lady Gaga was told by the NFL that she cannot say anything or bring anything up about the election, or mention Donald Trump.” We gonna have to wait and see!
