The Democrats have worked tirelessly to push the narrative that the Russians were behind the Democrat National Committee’s email hack, claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin would prefer that GOP nominee Donald Trump win the general election in November. The Russian government put those claims to rest this morning, denying any allegations that it was working to influence the outcome of the election, Politico reported.
“Moscow is at pains to avoid any words that could be interpreted as direct or indirect interference in the election process,” said Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin.
“We see that the Russian card is in the red corner on the writing table of all Washington politicians during the election campaign, and that very often they make it a trump card in their game,” he added.
Trump also responded to the allegations during an exclusive interview on WFOR-TV, in which he said he had no business interests in Russia and has never personally met President Putin.
“I mean I have nothing to do with Russia. I don’t have any jobs in Russia. I’m all over the world but we’re not involved in Russia,” he said.
Trump went on to suggest that the Clinton camp had put the story out there “because they figure it’s a good soundbite.”
“The fact is she’s the one involved with Russia because they have uranium because of her when she was secretary of state. I mean that was a big, big deal, so they just came up with this concept, so OK,” the GOP presidential nominee added.

Trump also criticized The New York Times this morning for continuing to push the narrative that Russia wanted Trump to win the election.
Funny how the failing @nytimes is pushing Dems narrative that Russia is working for me because Putin said "Trump is a genius." America 1st!

Maybe the Russians denying they had any desire to sway the election might put an end to all the liberal speculation — but then again, we are talking about liberals.
